Content-Type: RST In the spirit of my `last entry`_, I should mention my new second blog. .. _`last entry`: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/microblogging .. figure :: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/upload/do-not-want-cat "Oh no, not another one!" Oh, shut up. I figured that since I've been captivated by EVE Online (see `why`_), and would like to keep a log of what I go through for my own purposes (muhaha, learning from mistakes) and for the purpose of entertainment or information of other players, I made my own `ship log`_. .. _`why`: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/the-eve-of-eve .. _`ship log`: http://blackshell-eve.blogspot.com Right now, some of those who clicked that link may be thinking: `Why, Filip? Why Blogger?! WHYYYY!!!` For several reasons, actually. 1. I did not want to make yet another instance of my blog engine. It's enough trouble maintaining one. Stupid Durus. 2. I did not want to install Wordpress for something like this, since at the time I felt really lazy or something. You know, as usual. 3. For either of the solutions above, I'm not quite sure how well my server would take to it. 4. The ship log is entirely in-character roleplay. In other words, Petrus Blackshell is and acts like a citizen of the Minmatar Republic. He does not know almost anything about Earth, save for the legends of it having been where the human race arrived from through the EVE Gate, which collapsed thousands of years ago. 5. Lastly, identity concerns. I did not mention my in-game name in my last post about EVE because I was unsure whether I should link my in-game personality with my web and real life personalities. Mainly, I was trying to protect things like this blog from possibly unwanted contact from those in-game until I was suer the community was good enough to trust. For those who have not heard, EVE won `mmorpg.com`_'s awards for both the best game community of the year, and the MMORPG of the year, and the former certainly helped to make me trust it. The fact I am able to have friendly chatter and banter with pirates in low security space even after less-than-friendly encounters also counts for something. .. _`mmorpg.com`: http://www.mmorpg.com That's gotten me to trust it enough to allow a one-way link to my in-game personality. In other words, I trust it enough that a member of an in-game Microsoft Corporation or something won't track me down and kill me because I am an open source supporter. What (or who) I do not trust yet are people such as the GoonSwarm alliance, who are notorious for having no respect for others' gameplay and regularly use dirty tactics such as spamming the chat in order to lag the servers, or post insulting messages to rile their enemies up. I'm not sure I want a Goon invasion of my blog, which has unprotected commenting anyway. In that vein, Petrus shall have no link back here yet. Yet. .. figure :: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/upload/goonfleet Yeah, somehow these guys became the most powerful alliance in EVE. No, I don't understand how either. Well, what are you waiting for? `Go read`_! (Excuses for the wall of text first post, I needed to give myself a backstory :) ) .. _`go read`: http://blackshell-eve.blogspot.com
