Content-Type: RST Well that was quite a hiatus from blogging, which I'm sure my readers are glad for. But it doesn't last forever, and I got a bunch of stuff to talk about. So, I begin with a (meta?) post about **microblogging**. By which I mean, yes, `Twitter`_. .. _twitter: http://www.twitter.com .. figure :: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/upload/twitter-bird-small I wrote about this `before`_, and the reader *pyh* provided some helpful input as to how she would like to see me use Twitter, but I was too lazy to actually take it up or code something for it. Well, that changed. If you look in the top tags, you see a link to a `page`_ I set up to display my tweets. .. _before: http://blog.opensourcenerd.com/two-tweetings-to-twitter .. _page: http://www.opensourcenerd.com/microblog However, unlike I mentioned in that post, the plugin is not written by me in Python. I just used the default Twitter script to generate one using Javascript - a feature they appear to have added most recently. Why spend extra effort, cry blood, and bleed tears if I'm just to replicate the functionality of something that already exists? (If someone mentions something about this blog engine I will make *them* cry blood and bleed tears) .. figure :: http://icanhascheezburger.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/tell-me-when-its-over.jpg "Okay okay, I won't mention how easy it would have been to just have a Wordpress blog!" Now that's settled, what will I use this "microblog" for? It will definitely not be as stringent in its topics as this blog is. However, you will not know whether I had cereal or a banana for breakfast if you read it. That's the wrong kind of tweeting (and I probably slept through breakfast anyway). It will likely contain interesting quotes by others, by me, or links to music I recommend, sites I like, bits of news, etc etc. Plus, since I have the Facebook Twitter app, all my Facebook friends will get their walls spammed with my useless info too! In other words, it's like a blog, only in 250 characters! And rapid fire! Dodge *that*.
