I'm back!

That's right! I am back in business.

Let me introduce you to my new WSGI [en.wikipedia.org]-based blog engine. If anyone caught my last blog post before an unfortunate rsync accident wiped out my database files. Sad business.

There is still a heckton to do before this is just as powerful as the last engine, but it's well on its way. Anyway, while I work on adding image functionality and some more admin options (such as editing existing entries, deleting offending comments, and ordering users around), here is a sample of what I do have right now:

  • BBCode and ReStructuredText entry methods. No more of that ugly HTML junk.

  • ReCaptcha instead of asking you "Are you a robot?"

  • User accounts! Yay! Plus, the backend is actually tracking what you comment on when you're logged in. That will probably be available in user pages I later write.

  • Hidden admin options - no more seeing what I see, you unworthy viewers

  • An object-oriented database. There is no SQL mess behind this.

  • My awesome sarcasm and irony.

I hope people are glad I'm back, because I sure am.

Read: "You better be glad I'm back."

Congrats! (don't knock html though :P) And I'm glad you're back, of course.

Woooooo!

on 2009-08-20 22:23:51

Woo! This is cool. Gald ur back. Also, why is it making me captcha when I'm logged in?

on 2009-08-20 23:07:26

Um. You need to add functionality to change a user's info (ie homepage). Silly me forgot to add an http:// and now my homepage is apparently part of yours... Alternately, just auto add http:// if its not there...

on 2009-08-20 23:09:37

pyh, why is your homepage my latest post?

And, chaseler, I will add http:// to your url, and add the auto http:// if it's not there. And there's a captcha because I was a) too lazy to remove it just yet, and 2) because certain people may want to hack this new blog too, and they don't care about anonymity, so they could use a bot with their account. Or another account they could create

on 2009-08-20 23:40:50

awwww, how nice. i'm flattered filip. :P

but no, i don't consider spamming hacking, so the captcha does you no good. i'm not interested in botting you (unless it's to do something very interesting

on 2009-08-21 00:35:33

Well, jwalsh, if you say so, I'll remove the captcha for logged-in users.

on 2009-08-21 01:55:38

Testing lack of captcha when logged in?

on 2009-08-23 01:13:39

No more captcha on being logged in! Yay!

on 2009-08-23 01:14:03

yay! i like this plan!
